Story:
The story begins with Suri (vidharth) who is put in a jail in Theni for a small crime and the flashback reveals his past. He gives shelter to a young woman and her daughter Mynaa (amala). Soon, both Suri and Mynaa grow up and fall in love as well. However, Mynaa’s brother comes into the picture and he wants to get his sister married to a rich person. This leads to scuffle and Suri lands in jail. However, just one day before he is to be released, Suri escapes from jail and it becomes the duty of the warden Bhaskar (sethu) and his assistant Ramaiah (thambi) to locate Suri. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Presentation:
The director has come up with a well written tale and though the presentation was weak, the narrative was good. The dialogues were impressive, the script was nice and the screenplay was moderate. Background score was effective and songs were melodious. Cinematography captured the locales very well and editing was also crisp. The costumes were not upto the mark while the art department could have been better. Vidharth comes across with a strong performance as a rugged guy. Amala looks naturally seductive and she has shouldered her role very well. Sethu was nice and the show stealer was Ramaiah with his occasional comedy and sentimental sequences.
Conclusion:
The film has been made with a good intent and it goes to show the levels of commitment of those who live in the hilly regions and countryside. This is more of a tender love treat and stands apart from the regular masala tastes. While the first half takes off on a violent note and the flashback episode, the second half is more to do with the clearing of the misconceptions. Given the dubbed format, there is a lot of Tamil nativity that one can see but that’s the best way to make this movie. At the box office, the B, C center audience would connect in a strong way.
COV Verdict: Intense and emotional…
