Mayor throws party to woo Corporators

Vizag: A cinematic scene has happened at Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) on Tuesday, when some of the corporators left for Araku valley for a trip. Major part of the Corporation Council (corporators) travelled over A/C Innovas provided by city Mayor Janardhana Rao.

According to sources, the political structure in the city was reshaped after Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy's son Jagan Mohan Reddy's departure from Congress party. Most of the Congress fellows were fell in defence same as mayor.

Some say that the mayor arranged this trip to secure his seat. His deputy Dorababu played key role to obstruct few number of Congress corporations to this trip. He always opposed the mayor in all aspects (recently he revealed a 1000 crore rupees scam on waste management in council session).

There was no guarantee for anybody's seat in todays political world. Even the State Congress chief D Srinivas has witnessed negative waves from the public in his recent visit to district. Nowadays anti waves can do anything, according to a politician. GVMC has imposed hike in property tax and mayor denied to down it.

The TDP camp is maintaining ‘wait and see’ policy and observing the political developments and planning to give notice for moving the motion. For a month the polarization is taking place in GVMC political circles which is heading for a no-confidence motion in the month of February.

Total strength in the house is 72, Congress has 36, Telugudesam 33, CPM 2 and CPI 1 besides ten independents.
