TDP to start dharna in support of farmers

Vizag: Telugudasam party cadre have decided to start protest in demanding compensation to farmers who lost their standing crops due to recent typhoons. Addressing the newsmen Telugudesam party district president Ayyanna Patrudu said, cadre will stage relay hunger strike in various locations in city.

He alleged that the Congress led UPA Government in Centre and State have failed to rescue farmers by providing concerned compensation. It is unfortunate that the CM and ministers not at all considering this issue as serious. Congressmen are very busy to rescue their chairs rather than to concentrate on common-man and farmer.

Though AP has 33 MPs (for Congress), none of them spoke about the crop loss during 23 days of Parliament winter sessions, he said.

The party demanded Rs 10,000 compensation per acre for the paddy farmer, announcement of support price to paddy including a bonus of Rs 200 per ton, purchase centre in every mandal and support price of Rs 25,00O per ton of sugarcane, he further added.
