Vizagites are been enlighten by the floating Book fair MV Logos hope on Vizag port. Having plentiful storage on board in nine storied ship. MV Logos Hope was constructed in 1973 and first named Gustav Vasa. Originally built as a passenger car ferry, sailed North Atlantic routes.
In 1983, the ship changed hands to the Smyril Line, was renamed Norrna and sailed between the Faroe Islands and Denmark. After taken over by GBA Ships e.V. (previously Good Books for All) in 2004, raised funds to acquire the vessel to travel to enlighten the world.
Now its on Vizag port since 30th July, 2011 and stays here till 11 th August. Entry fee to board on it is 50 rupees per person and below 16 years are allowed free of cost and be accompanied by one adult.
The largest floating touring book fair in the globe, carries the best books in the world about 5000 books and accopanied by 400 voluntary crew from various nations. These crew were provided lodging, boarding and schools for their children along with full of joy on board. Visitors are allowed at witness their daily routine lifestyle, swimming pools, playgrounds on nine storied ship. It was headed by Captain Patrice, supported by Managing Director Valtzir.
It was already travelled over 1400 ports in 162 nations so far and witnessed about 43 crores visitors. Lav Agarwal, District Collector - Visakhapatnam inaugurated show at Visakhapatnam port and congratulated the ship crew for such a big show in his purview. He ordered the District Educational Officer (DEO) to issue notices to all schools in the district to visit this ship to educate school children.
Cultural shows:
Logos Hope crew performs an International Night, where they perform music and dances from around the world. The difference in Hambantota was that International Night was held on the quayside rather than on the ship.
Special shows will be exhibited here in Vizag related to Indian Culture and traditions. Ship crew learns the local language to convey world peace message to the local bodies where ever they go, according to one of the crew on the ship. They took part social activities in remote villages in degraded locations.
