Surabhi theatre shows doesn't require any introduction to Indian land, which were on since 1899 throughout the country. This troupe had a great record of shows performed by only one family ( a team of about 60 members) since decades.

Surabhi is famous for live 3d tricks on stage, which was their unique speciality. Most of the shows were practiced by these members were based on popular mythological ones like Krishna leelalu, Mayabazar, Yasoda Krishna, Ramayana, Mahabharat, Gajendra Moksha, Bala Nagamma etc. No one could imagine such type of techniques during mooki movies in 1920's.

This company was founded in 1899 and run by one head of the family. Later it was divided into four now, out of them two are famous in the state, Sri Vinayaka Company and other is Sri Venkateswara troupe. Recently Vizagites witnessed two of the memorable shows. One is Bhakta Prahlada and other is Srinivasa kalyanam.

The name surabhi is a corruption of "surugi" i.e. a term used to describe a route or path between two landmarks on the horizon, according to senior members of the troupe. This drama company was decentralised at lighting effects which were maintained by one team, stage sets to another team, rest of the members including children and veterans all should be involved in direct performance, according to the team manager.

Surabhi family has number of graduates, post graduates and resear scholars now. Accent is very clear while belting out sanskrit peoms during the show. Normal drams show takes much time to perform on stage, but Surabhi show is different, all the sets were prepared instantly just before the show, including lighting.

Now-a-days no one is interested to witness dramas by purchasing tickets, inspite cine attractions. Such drama shows need financial support from Government and public as well to forward such tradition to the next generations.
