City registers world's longest national flag Vizag: Ramakrishna beach witnessed yet another world record on Monday. Patriots of Vizag designed a longest and widen Indian National Flag (tri colour) with 2.5 km length and 10 mts wide was presented in the evening on Monday.

About 1000 people hold it for more than one hour to get this record. At present it was recorded with Limca Book of Records with these parameters.

Activists participated in it raised slogans like Mera Bharat Mahaan, Jai Bharat, Vandemataram and Jai Samaikyandhra. It was an idea of an NGO to take out the patriotism from the hearts of youngsters in city.

Red Magazine Hoists World's longest Tricolor Flag in Vizag

On the occasion of Independence Day, a record-breaking Indian tricolour which was 2.6 kms long, ten foot wide and weighing about 450 kg was unveiled by ‘Red Magazine Vizag’ on the beach road.

T. Chandramouli, CMD of Red Magazine and the brain behind the unique event was gung-ho about the making it to the Limca Book of Records as the World's Longest Flag. In his words, “It’s a proud moment for Vizag and its people. I thank the unprecedented crowds for thronging the beach road and making the event a huge success. Hope that the Limca and Guinness Book of records take notice of this extraordinary feat.”

It took a full month for a battery of tailors near NAD Kotha Road in the city, to make the flag. “As many as 2,000 volunteers carried the flag stretching from Kalimata temple to VUDA Park gate on the beach road, ensuring that it doesn't touch the ground” he added.
