Meena lokam (Fish Aquarium) inaugurated

Vizag: Mr. S. Vijaya Rama Raju, Minister for Forests inaugurated the Meena lokam- a fish aquarium on Wednesday at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raju said, more funds will be diverted to Visakhapatnam Zoo for the developement, which is one of the biggest zoo parks in Asia.

One more special encloser will be allocated for butterflies, a rare gene lions, bears, giraffees, chitah, leopard cat etc, will be taken to the zoo, he added. Later he released Ostritch, Emu birds into their separate cages in the zoo. He invited the public to adopt some of the wild animals and provide funds for their livelihood.

About Rs. 2.5 lakhs exgratia will be given to the victims of wild animals, he mentioned. Mr. K. Nageswara Rao adopted one lion by providing Rs. 1.5 lakh to the Zoo, according to the curator. Mr. P. Janardhana Rao, Mayor, Mr. Mallikharjuna Rao, Director Zoo parks, Mr. Ramalingam, curator also present.
