Beautiful handicrafts with Jute Vizag: Jute - a healthy product to be used in all ways to prevent environment pollution. Vishnu, Commissioner - Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) congratulated the organisers for providing an awareness among the public on it. Speaking on the occasion, he said, that everybody is looking for an alternate to polyethene carriers.

These products are cheaper and easily available to most of the commonman. GVMC is also looking for alternative to polythene before it is prohibited, he said. Bheemunipatnam Municipality is successfully continuing polytheneless live now-a-days. Number of handicraft and self helf groups and industries have explained their products at the expo.

In south India, durries are woven in the bright colours that one usually associates with fabrics from the part of the country.

Among the most picturesque are the durries of Navalgund, a small place in the Dharwar district of Karnataka. The Bhawani durries of Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu are at least a couple of centuries old. Duries from Madhya Pradesh are known for their sturdy character and delightful colours. Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, all make distinctive types of durries in wool or cotton or both.
